Cerezen – The better solution
Cerezen is the new innovative pain management device for the treatment of TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder).
Cerezen provides a unique near field treatment via the closest access point to the TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint), the ear canal.
Cerezen are a set of hollow inserts that are custom made for your ears.
When we open and close our mouths, our ear canals are also opening and closing. When the devices are being worn, they retain the shape of our ear canals in an open bite position. As we put our teeth together, Cerezen will gently push back on the ear canals which will create a cognitive awareness and send bio-feedback to our brain to correct itself.
Our brains are very clever and are good at adapting to its surroundings. The way it will correct itself is by bringing the jaw into a slight open bite position and this will take the unnecessary pressure off the TMJ.
Common areas of symptoms
Some of the more common symptoms include (but not exclusive to):
- Pain/tenderness around the jaw
- Pain in one or both of the TMJ’s
- Aching pain around or in your ear
- Painful when chewing or difficulty to chew
- Aching facial pain
- Jaw locking up, limiting mouth opening
If you have been diagnosed as having TMD or you are ticking the boxes on the common symptoms near the top, please do not hesitate to call us and book your initial appointment.
At this appointment we will carry out a TMD assessment and discuss with you how Cerezen can work for you.
As part of the TMD assessment we will ask you to complete the Patient Oral Health Impact Profile (22 questions) and an additional questionnaire (14 questions).
Both of these questionnaires have been designed to help during the TMD assessment process to ensure you receive the best treatment for the symptoms you are presenting with.
These can be completed at the practice while you wait, or for your convenience, we have an online version of these questionnaires available:
We are happy to help and answer any questions you may have.
