Invisalign or Clear Ceramic Braces, What Is Best For You?

4 November 2019

Your smile is one of the first things people notice, if you’re feeling self-conscious about having crooked or misaligned teeth but don’t want people to notice you’re wearing braces, you may want to consider some of the orthodontic treatments provided at Etwall Dental Practice.

If you’re looking to have straight teeth without feeling like you’re back in school with metal braces, consider these two treatments; Invisalign clear aligners or ceramic clear braces.

What are Clear Braces?

Clear ceramic braces use ceramics instead of metal for the brackets on your braces, it’s an identical treatment to other types of braces but blend in with your teeth. They’re bonded to your tooth and connected with an arch wire, using pressure to align and produce straighter teeth. These fixed braces take between 12 to 24 months to complete the orthodontic therapy, depending on the patient.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a treatment using a series of invisible aligner trays molded to each patient’s profile. Every two weeks you will visit us at Etwall and receive a new set of aligners designed to gently move your teeth to their new, straighter position. This is a gradual process that happens over a period of months.

Which to choose?

Although clear braces are less noticeable, Invisalign molds to your teeth and is a lot harder to see. Clear braces are more susceptible to breaking or chipping and can be rough on your lips and cheeks. In addition the aligning trays can be taken in and out, making oral health easier to keep on top of by making brushing and flossing a lot easier. However, you need to ensure the aligner tray is in for the recommended 20 to 22 hours per day, clear braces also take fewer adjustments and treat more extensive orthodontic cases.

Both are good options for correcting and straightening teeth inconspicuously, depending on your case, one may be a better fit than the other.

Whichever option you prefer Etwall Dental Practice can help, we encourage you to Contact Us to book a consultation and regain the confidence with your smile. If you’d like to find out more about each procedure and others, please view dedicated pages for both ceramic clear braces and Invisalign.

All our orthodontic packages include free end of treatment fixed and removable retainers, take home teeth whitening and enamel contouring.

COVID-19 update

Many of you will be aware that during the latest Covid 19 update dental practices have been given the green light to re-open the surgery from 8th June. Whilst this is good news, there are a number of procedures that we have being putting in place to make treatment safe for our patients and staff, as we are sure you will appreciate, this is taking some time to set up.

Our intention is, if at all possible to commence opening on the 8th June but this is entirely dependent on our ability to obtain training and appropriate PPE which as you know there is a great shortage of. This equipment will be essential for us to be able to operate.

From 8th- 29th of June we will be prioritising the most urgent of cases including those who have been experiencing problems during this lockdown period. We will contact you directly to arrange an appointment. This period may be extended if required.

Rest assured we are trying our utmost to source this PPE as soon as possible to enable us to extend our treatment further to include fillings, crown/bridge work, root treatments and surgical extractions, scale & polish ect.

We anticipate that it will be several weeks before we will be able to commence these more advanced procedures.

This is a rapidly changing environment which we are adapting to as quickly as we possibly can. We really appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this difficult period and look forward to welcoming you back to the practice soon.
