Overcoming Nerves at the Dentist

Nervous Dental Patient Being Comforted

Overcoming Nerves at the Dentist

10 October 2019

It’s not uncommon for patients to develop a fear of the dentist. Dental experts at Etwall Dental Practice will often consult anxious patients, ensuring they feel as relaxed as possible from the moment they enter the practice. Regular check-ups are recommended at Etwall Dental Practice, so we are constantly striving to deliver the most relaxing experience possible for all our patients.

How do we help overcome nervousness in patients?

Our dental professionals completely understand there are a number of reasons patients can become nervous and anxious. That’s why we ensure a number of practices are observed to ensure maximum patient comfort.

We are happy to welcome patients for planned visits, so they can get comfortable with the environment in which the treatments take place. Etwall Dental Practice dentists will also ensure every step of a treatment is explained, allowing patients to ask questions in an attempt to alleviate any anxiety. Many patients also find it beneficial to bring headphones and listen to music during treatments, whilst others practice calming techniques such as breathing exercises.

What sedation options are available to patients?

If you consider yourself extremely nervous and don’t believe any of the above will help, Etwall Dental Practice also offer IV sedation. Should this be the case, we will ensure the treatment is managed by a dentist fully qualified in providing inhalation sedation.

Our number one aim is helping patients maintain good oral hygiene in a safe and comfortable environment. If you’d like to find out some more information about our processes, check out our Nervous Patients page. For any further questions you may have, please contact us at Etwall Dental Practice.

Our dentists welcome any query you have, whether that’s over the phone or via a visit to our practice. If you find yourself in need of anymore advice about oral health or are just looking to enquire about one of our other services, be sure to check out our other General Dentistry services and approved Treatments.
