6 Month Smiles™

6 Month Smiles™ or 6 month braces are an innovative method to straighten your teeth quickly yet gently. The brace system design originated in the USA, but the treatment is gaining more popularity in England. The treatment derives its name from the fact that some patients can achieve their desired smile is as little as six months.

This treatment differs from traditional brace systems as it focuses on straightening the crown or visible part of the teeth in the smile zone. The system is not designed to correct the roots or make significant changes in bite. For patients who do not require roots to be adjusted, six-month smiles could provide a fast-acting option. If you are looking for a more comprehensive teeth re-adjustment, we offer an extensive portfolio of orthodontic treatments such as DamonTM braces, lingual braces and more.

What are the advantages offered by 6 Month Smiles™?

  • A discreet treatment as the braces are compact and tooth-coloured and can blend in with your teeth
  • Reduced treatment time
  • Cost-efficiency compared to traditional brace treatments
  • Minimal disturbance to your daily routine

How does a 6 Month Smile™ treatment deliver such quick results?

The 6 Month Smile™ system is designed to address the misalignment in the smile area and not straighten the roots. As a result, the re-adjustment process can take place in a shorter timeframe.

Are the braces metallic?

The wires and brackets are colour-matched to your tooth. This feature is a leading contributor to the increasing popularity of the 6 Month Smile™ system.

Will the 6 Month Smile™ treatment be comfortable?

The 6 Month Smile™ system utilises gentle force to straighten teeth. Contrary to a common misconception, the treatment duration is not reduced by additional tightening of the wire. The speedy results are achieved by focussing on cosmetic improvements and not root repositioning.

Why is a retainer required after the straightening process?

Wearing a retainer after teeth have been straightened, diminishes the chances of an orthodontic relapse. Most patients will require a combination of fixed retainer and removable Essix retainer.

How will an orthodontic consultation benefit me?

Etwall Dental Practice offers a wide array of braces which can straighten teeth. Each treatment is better suited for different clinical needs. At a consultation, your orthodontist can understand your requirements and recommend the optimal option for you.

At an initial consultation, our practitioners at Etwall Dental Practice will assess your teeth and oral conditions. If you are a suitable candidate, our team will take x-rays and photographs. An oral impression will also be made to fabricate your bespoke 6 Month Smile™ braces.

In the follow-up appointment, the braces will be bonded to your teeth. Subsequent adjustment sessions will be scheduled every four to six weeks. The treatment duration depends on the severity of the case and can be discussed during your initial consultation.

After your teeth have been aligned and straightened, the braces will be detached by your orthodontist. Retainers will be provided to prevent the teeth from relapsing to their previous position.

All orthodontic packages include FREE end of treatment fixed and removable retainers, take home teeth whitening and enamel contouring.
