Anti-wrinkle treatment is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
One 10-minute treatment, a few tiny injections and within days there’s a noticeable improvement in those persistent lines between the brows, which can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time. This treatment has been referred to as BTX, Wrinkle Smoothing Injections and Botulinum Toxin.
A million people have been treated with anti-wrinkle injections since FDA approval in 2002. Not just models and movie stars, but people from all types of professions.
Botulinum toxin is a purified bacterial substance that blocks muscle nerve signals. The dentist can safely inject botulinum toxin to weaken the facial muscle and diminish unwanted wrinkles and frown lines that appear across the forehead and at the corners of the eyes (crow’s feet). The anti-wrinkle treatment can smooth out age-related wrinkles such as crows feet, frown lines or lines on the forehead. Effects last between 3 – 5 months for most patients.
Dermal fillers are non-surgical cosmetic treatments used to bring a more youthful appearance by restoring volume or fullness to the face and lips. They work by reducing or eliminating lines, wrinkles and folds in the skin and the effects are seen immediately after treatment. As skin ages, both naturally and because of other factors such as sun damage, smoking, and poor diet, we lose collagen, fat and other natural moisturising substances from our skin. These can be thought of as the natural ‘scaffolding’ that keeps skin looking young and feeling firm. With less collagen, our skin becomes thinner and we start to see lines, wrinkles and folds developing. This is usually more noticeable on our faces.
After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips lasts about 6 months.
We always take the time to fully access our patients and understand and meet their expectations and desired outcome. Most patients are concerned about looking like they’ve had treatment and we take great pride in producing results that look natural.
