Damon™ Braces

What are Damon™ braces?

The Damon™ system is an advanced orthodontic technique to gradually straighten your teeth using strong yet gentle pressure. This method can re-adjust both parts of the tooth – the visible portion (crown) and the hidden portion (root).

In some traditional brace treatments, extraction of a healthy tooth may be required to create room for remaining teeth to move into. This could cause discomfort and lead to a flat definition between upper lip and jawline. Damon™ braces create space while straightening the teeth, providing the patient with a broader smile and diminishing the need for dental extraction. As a result, they can give the patient a natural-looking, straight smile and an enhanced profile.

What are the different Damon™ systems?

Damon™ metal and Damon™ clear are the different braces available in the Damon™ system which can provide you with a natural and broad smile. The primary difference between the two is the ceramic material used in Damon™ clear, which results in a more discreet straightening procedure.

Why adopt the Damon™ brace system?

Damon™ braces can gently correct various dental complications such as:

  • Malocclusion or bad bite
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Protrusion
  • Crooked teeth
  • Overcrowding in the mouth

What are the prime advantages associated with the Damon™ system?

  • Damon™ braces utilise light forces to gradually move the teeth, diminishing discomfort during treatment
  • Patients of all ages can avail this treatment
  • The brace system not only straightens teeth but also creates space, providing a broader smile and aesthetic facial profile
  • There is minimal change in your daily routine and lifestyle
  • Patients can expect faster results than traditional braces
  • Most cases do not require tooth extraction

What is involved in Damon™ braces treatment procedure?

At an initial consultation, our practitioners at Etwall Dental Practice will assess your teeth and oral conditions. If you are a suitable candidate, our team will take x-rays and photographs. An oral impression will also be made to fabricate your bespoke Damon™ braces.

In the follow-up appointment, the braces will be bonded to your teeth. Subsequent adjustment sessions will be scheduled every four to six weeks. The treatment duration depends on the severity of the case and can be discussed during your initial consultation.

After your teeth have been aligned and straightened, the braces will be detached by your orthodontist. Retainers will be provided to prevent the teeth from relapsing to their previous position.

COVID-19 update

Many of you will be aware that during the latest Covid 19 update dental practices have been given the green light to re-open the surgery from 8th June. Whilst this is good news, there are a number of procedures that we have being putting in place to make treatment safe for our patients and staff, as we are sure you will appreciate, this is taking some time to set up.

Our intention is, if at all possible to commence opening on the 8th June but this is entirely dependent on our ability to obtain training and appropriate PPE which as you know there is a great shortage of. This equipment will be essential for us to be able to operate.

From 8th- 29th of June we will be prioritising the most urgent of cases including those who have been experiencing problems during this lockdown period. We will contact you directly to arrange an appointment. This period may be extended if required.

Rest assured we are trying our utmost to source this PPE as soon as possible to enable us to extend our treatment further to include fillings, crown/bridge work, root treatments and surgical extractions, scale & polish ect.

We anticipate that it will be several weeks before we will be able to commence these more advanced procedures.

This is a rapidly changing environment which we are adapting to as quickly as we possibly can. We really appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this difficult period and look forward to welcoming you back to the practice soon.
