Sedation dentistry is an effective and safe technique that enables you to be comfortable and relax during treatment. It also allows our team to work efficiently and quickly on nervous patients.

How do you administer sedation?

At Etwall Dental Practice, we offer intravenous (IV) sedation to our patients. This method of sedation is a fast-acting and effective way of helping those with dental phobias remain calm during treatment.

The sedative will be administered directly into a vein in your hand or arm through a needle. You will begin to feel relaxed very quickly, allowing your dentist to get to work. Afterward, you will have little to no recollection of the procedure and will feel as though you were sleeping.

How will I feel after being sedated?

Once your treatment is complete, you will be transferred to a recovery room where members of our team will care for you until you are fully alert.

It can take up to 24 hours for the effects of sedation to wear off, so you must arrange for a chaperon to meet you at our practice and accompany you home. You will likely still feel drowsy, so it is best to take it easy for the remainder of the day.
